How can I register for an USRowing coaching clinic?
Registration for coaching clinics is done through RegattaCentral at www.regattacentral.com.
What are the different levels of coaching clinics and associated costs?
Level I is $125, Level II is $150 and Level III is only available at the USRowing Annual Convention in December. Payment for the clinics is done on site by check, VISA or MasterCard.
Are there any requirements before registering for a clinic?
Level I clinics are open to all coaches, parents, teachers and rowers of any skill level or experience. Level II is open to those who have had a Level I certification for at least six months or a coach who has coached for at least a year and is comfortable with the basics of technique, training plans, physiology and rigging. Safety is a critical part of the Level I program, so the coach must be well versed in the safety aspects of where they coach.
If I have been coaching for several years, do I need to take the Level I coaching clinic?
USRowing will waive coaching levels based on your coaching experience. If you have more than a year of rowing coaching experience, you can go straight to Level II. If you have more than five years of rowing coaching experience, you can go straight to Level III. Please contact Willie Black at willieb@usrowing.org to obtain your waiver.
Where are USRowing coaching clinics held?
USRowing offers 35 clinics per year all over the country in addition to clinics scheduled at the USRowing Annual Convention in December. We have clinics that are held every year in cities like Boston and Seattle, but other clinics are scheduled by demand in cities and towns near you. Check the USRowing Web site periodically for an up-to-date schedule of coaching clinics at www.usrowing.org.
How can I host a coaching clinic?
If you are interested in hosting a clinic, please contact Willie Black at willieb@usrowing.org. USRowing will provide an instructor, materials and registration support. You will need to provide a suitable space, a television with a DVD player and the participants (we can help with this). We need a minimum of 10 participants to hold a clinic. The host organization will get one free participant for twelve paid participants in the Level I and II clinics. We try very hard to honor all reasonable requests for clinics, but due to location and/or scheduling conflicts with our instructors, we are occasionally unable to schedule a clinic in a specific location.
How can I purchase Level I, II or III coaching manual?
To purchase a coaching manual, contact Willie Black at willieb@usrowing.org.
How can I purchase Coaching DVDs?
All DVDs are $20 plus shipping. To purchase DVDs, please contact Willie Black at willieb@usrowing.org.
