Indianapolis to Host 2011 USRowing Club National Championships

October 20, 2010

USRowing is pleased to announce that the Indianapolis Rowing Center will play host to the 2011 USRowing Club National Championships July 13-17, 2011, at Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis, Ind.

USRowing’s Club National Championships features more than 1,500 athletes competing for titles in over 70 events. The regatta includes racing in the junior, intermediate and senior categories, and is where future junior, under 23 and senior national team rowers have a chance to develop their racing skills.

“Indianapolis looks forward to hosting its 15th U.S. National Championship,” said IRC Event Chair Heidi Heldt. “The Indianapolis Rowing Center is currently planning upgrades to its seven-lane, 2,000-meter course and renovating its facilities to further enhance our rowing venue. IRC looks forward to sharing our improved space with the teams and spectators at the USRowing Club National Championships. On behalf of the Indianapolis Rowing Center and the City of Indianapolis, welcome rowers.”

Located on the west side of Indianapolis, Eagle Creek Park has hosted some of the most prestigious regattas ever held in the United States. In addition to hosting numerous USRowing National Championship regattas and several NCAA Championships, Eagle Creek hosted the rowing events at the 1987 Pan American Games and the 1994 World Rowing Championships, the only world championships held on U.S. soil.

“Indianapolis Rowing Center has a wonderful history of putting on outstanding events, and the venue has played host to numerous prestigious regattas over the years,” said USRowing Director of Operations Brett Johnson. “We are excited to be returning to Indianapolis and Eagle Creek Park and look forward to working with IRC to create an exciting and memorable 2011 USRowing Club National Championship.”
